The Year 1961

Posted in 1 by bloowalrus on June 14, 2009

I found myself in an unfamiliar looking classroom with a good friend named Amana seatedĀ  next to me.We had taken a course in French, and as we begun to get prepared for our first class,I spoke out loud and asked what the date was.

“1961,” I heard someone say.

1961? What the hell..How can it be 1961? I turned around to face the guy who had replied to my question and suddenly began to notice how old fashioned my class matesĀ  were.It just didn’t seem possible..Why were they all dressed like that? The guys in my class were dressed in tighter-than-normal clothes and the girls wore big perky shirts.

As the teacher arrived,I turned my head back to the front of the class to see a chalk board.I hadn’t seen a chalk board since elementary school. He began dealing with a pile of tests, and while doing this he began telling me i wasn’t qualified enough in French to be doing one of them.Which ofcourse,I didn’t mind as tests never really look appealing. As a good 5 minutes or so passed, before i knew it,the class was over.

As everyone was dismissed a couple of my unknown classmates took me along with them to a concert of some sort.At first I was dancing around and “wooing” to whomever was playing. But as the music dimmed the host appeared and i could see his lips moving but in the giant crowd i could only make out one word and that was “The Beatles”.

If i were really in the year 1961,The Beatles should be everywhere.People should have been talking about them on the streets, listening to their music in the washroom, and screaming their heads off when they’d see them on TV.As i was slowly putting the pieces together who else, but the BEATLES showed up on the stage!! Oh and i went hysterical, like one of those fans who’d jump out onto a baseball field just to touch there bright colored clothes.I couldn’t believe was what going on! People were scattered all over the place, moving their joints to the beat of the music.I seemed to be dancing and screaming so much that i didn’t even get the chance to see their faces. All i knew for certain was that right in front of me were THE BEATLES.The ORIGINAL beatles.

As i was moving wildly,I had suddenly bumped into one of my classmates. As I took a glimpse of him,I could have sworn he looked just like Bob Dylan.Wait,no,it HAD to be him!! I just had to tell him about how i was from the future and how great of a singer he’d oneday become.

“I don’t know if you’d believe me if i told you this,” I shouted so he could hear me. “But i’m from the future and you’re going to be one of the most biggest singers in the world!!!”

I must’ve looked like i was high.

Dylan smiled and chuckled lightly and as his mouth was going to open to reply to my remark,my eyes shot open.

I looked at my surroundings. It wasn’t 1961.Two Beatles were already dead and Bob Dylann wasn’t my age.I looked at my clock,9:00AM.

Boy,how i wished this dream was real!! If only i were living in the 60’s…If only this and if only that but if only wouldn’t make a difference.I’ve got what i have,i’ve got what i need, and from here,i can create my own version of the 60’s.Maybe not so much of an old fashioned one.But hey,it’ll surely be a good one….even without the beatles.
